Day 12. Thursday, June 29: Got up at 5:30 to help fix breakfast with my new best friends Dave and Peggy. Then I went to Morelia again with Nati and Lupita. When I joined them on the way to the truck to leave, Nati said, "What are you doing?" I responded, "I'm going with you." She then gave a look that is difficult to describe, and muttered, "But I don't want you to go." Maybe I should have stayed and cooked. We ran errands all day in Morelia, and went shopping. (And I did a superb job of helping the young ladies pick out clothes, for which I was thanked later.) Then we headed over to see Moses for a bit, and then piled into a taxi to go see the surgeon who would remove the cyst from Nati's eyebrow. I didn't get to see the operation, (either Nati or the doctor was uncomfortable about it) but I got to practice my Spanish when Moses took my gum and refused to give it back unless I talked to the receptionist in Spanish. It was my only pack of gum. I managed to ask the girl if she wanted any gum. Then I somehow asked her if she liked Moses. And after that, I told her that Moses loved her. The teasing and eye-rolling has not stopped yet. We got back around 1:00 AM. Tired does not begin to describe it. I don't see how the Cook family does it.

Day 13. Friday, June 30: Slept in. Late. Very nice. We mostly just played around and had fun today. I scored a goal in futból, for which I am very proud. My pride vanished, however, when I went swimming with my contacts. By the sheer grace of God I lost only one lens, and it landed on my cheek. I was able to catch it before it vanished into the murky depths of the pool. We found out around dinner time that it was not possible for me to stay with the medical team until Tuesday due to the flights being full, so I'm coming home early. Sometimes you just don't understand... On the way to the church, Dr. Cook asked me to play the Moonlight sonata for the service, and I hastily told him that I hadn't practiced it in at least a month and could not play it correctly. He nodded and said he understood. Guess who ended up butchering his absolute favorite piece of music all by himself in front of an entire church? How did you guess? I was ready for bed right after the last chord.

More Mexico updates!!!

Day 10. Tuesday, June 27: We cleaned most of the day in preparation of the medical team from West Virginia. I also helped take a trailer full of burned garbage to a dump. Naturally, I rode in the back with the rest of the boys and garbage. Oh, yeah, and it was raining. When we got to the dump, we found a pig carcass and attacked it for fun. We tried to perform a mini-surgery, but our tools were not sharp enough. It was fun to see our shovels bounce off of the bulging belly, though. When we got back, everyone made fun of me in Spanish because of how dirty I was. Not to worry, though. I received three (count'em: uno, dos, THREE) love letters today. Did you know that 90% of all greenhouse gas emissions are caused by burning love letters addressed to me? Seriously. Or maybe they were to Chuck Norris. Who knows. After taking a long needed and much applauded shower, Paco, Michelle, Katie, and I headed back to town for a some errands, tacos, and internet. We rode in Paco's super sweet VW Beetle ('63, I think) which has been converted into a mini pickup truck. There was only enough room for three in the front. Guess who rode in the back. In the rain. In a hailstorm. Scratch that. A blizzard on top of an erupting volcano inhabited by head-hunting, three headed, saber toothed spiders with a zillion legs and windows pcs. Ok, so it sprinkled a bit. I didn't think one time of being exposed to the elements at high speeds was enough for one day. After said exposure, we came home and watched Napoleon Dynamite with Paco. (While we gorged ourselves on our precious Dr. Pepper.) I pronounce this day a success!

Day 11. Wednesday, June 28: Cooked. All day. Well, almost all day. I also played futból, basketball, and chased two cows through the woods. In flip-flops. After I lost my toes, I proceeded to milk one of the said cows. Then back to cooking. Dave, Peggy, and I cooked from breakfast until about nine at night. We made spaghetti sauce from scratch. Wow. If you ever meet someone who does this on a regular basis, be sure and thank them profusely. Although today made me more tired than I have been in months, I truly felt useful and wanted for the first time since we've been here. Go figure.

I wanna go to Mexico this fall.
